About Mineed Technology

Mineed Technology, a startup spinoff from Chulalongkorn University, was founded in 2019 by Prof. Dr. Supason Wanichwecharungruang, Mr. Princeya Artpradid, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wijit Banlunara. Throughout years of research, they have brought forth advanced transdermal and intradermal drug delivery platforms based on detachable microneedles to the world. 

As an organization, they have an objective of generating microneedle patches for everyone that can be a solution to any health-related issues and finally improve people’s lives. The team has worked towards the concerns of unreliable delivery and dose inaccuracy associated with conventional dissolvable microneedles. Their technology allows for precise and painless delivery of drugs at a targeted skin depth. Additionally, Mineed intends to apply this technology to various industries, including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and diagnostics, suggesting a broad goal of improving drug delivery methods across multiple sectors.

Dr. Naruchit Thanuthanakul, the research director at Mineed and former researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, Osaka University, Japan, is currently leading the research team to develop detachable dissolvable microneedles that can be used for a variety of pharmaceutical and cosmetic purposes. He is committed to expanding scientific understanding and improving the well-being of humanity.

The Revolutionization of Microneedle Patch by Mineed Technology

Mineed’s microneedle patch allows for the immediate separation of needles from their base within 1 minute, ensuring complete embedding in the skin during administration without the use of water. This method provides convenience and enhances safety by reducing the risk of infection and skin damage. Mineed differentiates itself from the rest of the businesses in this industry in 3 major aspects:

  1. Delivery mechanism: Other microneedles dissolve into the skin to deliver. Mineed microneedles embed in the skin and then detach, distributing their contained substance in a more efficient and controlled way. Moreover, there is no patch left on the skin after use.
  2. Reliability and efficacy of delivery: Mineed’s microneedles deliver with 85% efficiency, regardless of the type or amount of bioactives loaded into the needles. This is because they detach from their base immediately after embedding, which prevents the ingredients from dissolving before they can be conveyed.
  3. Types and amounts of loaded bioactives: Mineed microneedles can be filled with both hydrophobic and hydrophilic bioactives, up to 50% by weight. This is because Mineed microneedles do not rely on rapid dissolution.

As previously mentioned, Mineed’s technological platform has the capability to create a range of advanced microneedle products loaded with active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), which can offer improved solutions for instance in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, vaccine, and diagnostic sectors. To date, they have developed patches for diabetes, allergen tests, hyperhidrosis, inflammatory acne treatment, and keloid treatment in animals. Also, they have showcased at international cosmetic conferences and exhibitions in key markets like New York, Boston, London, and South Korea indicating a growing interest and recognition on a global scale. In addition, they have collaborated with international and renowned Thailand organizations such as Mahidol University, Government Pharmaceutical Organization, and Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and are currently open for further collaborations.
